Portugal is a beautiful country that has many different facets to offer. In addition to fantastic weather conditions and great opportunities for discovery on the shores of the Atlantic, Portugal invites you to dream, both culinary and cultural, and inspires people from near and far.
I, too, was enchanted by the magic of the country decades ago. It was clear to me: this is where I want to spend my life.
Many people today feel the same way I did back then. However, in order to realise the dream of living in Portugal, a few important steps are necessary. After all, you want to do everything right from the start in the country of your dreams. The language barrier alone, however, presents many emigrants with major problems: After all, how are you supposed to deal with the authorities and register if you don’t know who to turn to? Where do you get a tax number? And how does all the rest work?
Since I have met many people over the years who need help with these and many other issues, I have made it my mission to actively support them as Mrs. Fixit.

What is on your mind?
When do I have to register in Portugal?
You have to register with the Portuguese authorities and apply for residency after 90 days of stay at the latest. This is done at the Residents' Registration Office (Câmara Municipal). Otherwise you could face a hefty fine.
What is the process with Mrs. Fixit?
In an initial personal meeting, I determine your individual needs, discuss the necessary steps with you and answer all your questions. After that, I start working as soon as possible!
Which documents do I need in Portugal?
This depends on what you intend to do. The most important documents are, of course, your identity card/passport and driving licence. However, depending on the type of administrative procedure, other documents may also be required.
How much will Mrs. Fixit's service cost me?
As I will discuss your individual needs with you, I do not charge general package prices and calculate the effort on the basis of a fair and transparent hourly rate of €35.00 incl. VAT.
How does the Portuguese health system work?
The Portuguese health care system is based on a public system called Serviço Nacional de Saúde (SNS), which is responsible for providing basic care to locals and everyone who lives and works in the country. Citizens have access to free medical care in public hospitals and health centres. There is also private health insurance for additional services. The SNS is mainly funded by taxes and provides a wide range of medical services, including doctor visits, hospitalisation and emergency care.
